On April 5, the PJP boys and girls track teams competed against Pottstown in a league meet. The PJP boys team won 87-63, and the PJP girls team won 94-48.

Notably, for the boys, senior Robert Erwin won two individual events, the 400m and 800m, clocking in at 52.78 and 2:09.25, respectively. Also winning two individual events was Nick Galbraith, who placed first in the discus and javelin.

PJP took the 4 x 400m relay by storm, winning with a time of 3:39.39. “We really came together as a team and ran smart, says Cole Ridgely, one of the four runners. “Our handoffs were smooth, and our speed did the rest.”

This meet was particularly cool because one of Pottstown’s runners, Marvin Pearson, is blind, yet he still competed in several events. He was featured on the Ellen Show late last year, and it was heartwarming to watch him compete.

On the girls side, PJP won fourteen of eighteen events. Senior Bridget Plate won three individual events, the 400m, 100m hurdles, and 300m hurdles, with a time of 1:04.11, 18.17, and 49.23, respectively. Collectively, the PJP girls won all three relays.

Stay tuned as the PJP track teams work their way towards the Penn Relays.
